Jonah's 5th Birthday Party

Jonah Teo, one of Katy's oldest friends (first playdate at age of 4 months?) had his 5th birthday pirate party on the beach on 14th April.  Katy and Dada got into the spirit with eyepatches and bandanas.
The kids had a fun time with a treasure hunt.  Katy's teammate was Anya.

The kids had to follow a treasure map that led them through a number of physical and mental challenges in the playground.

The final challenge was to dig up the treasure bags of candy.  It's funny because Katy is usually not fussed about competing, but with some things, she gets quite assertive about her rights.  This was one of those situations where she was very assertive about her right to be involved in the heavy digging!

Auntie Adeline made the most beautiful pirate cake ever.  Dada was tempted to hang up his birthday cake making hat after seeing this masterpiece, but Katy insisted that Dada's cakes are the best.  She is very loyal and sentimental, bless her.  It doesn't matter how elaborate the birthday cakes are at other parties, Katy firmly believes that her Dada's cakes are the best, and she firmly insists that she wants a home make cake created by her birthday dream team of Dada (cake decorator), Tia (cake maker) and Mama (cake designer and operations manager).
