When we arrived at swimming today, a young kid informed us that "Coach Lee", our usual swimming teacher, whom we call "Lee", was not available, and he would be our substitute teacher. He said, "call me Coach Adrian". This confused Katy a little and she asked me why we have to call him "Coach Adrian".
I explained that a Coach is a teacher of sports.
She explained to me, "well, in Chinese, we just call them 'Lao Shi', and I don't want to call them Coach because this year, the coaches for the Vikings are really bad".
Say what?
I asked her to repeat what she said. "The Vikings coaches are not good," she said, very seriously.
