Katy's new love

Katy has started "walking" the dog next door, Max, every morning. She calls out to him every morning when we go look for him - "Muck Muck". Mummy is worried the stage is being set for family conflict as Katy really seems to love dogs and Daddy has already laid down the law that we will never be getting a dog...just a goldfish! Or maybe a turtle.

Sometimes it's hard to tell who is walking whom...

Katy sometimes wears clothes while taking the dogs for a walk. But usually, not so much.

Katy Kopy Kats

Would you believe Daddy and Uncle Bert each individually put on a Katy Face for the camera without knowing the other one was doing the same? This was just such a characteristic Katy face at this time in her life. She started doing it because we would crack up every time.

Family

Kisses for Kung Tai!

A bit grumpy and overtired when Cousin Howard and fiancee Karen dropped in to help us get to the airport.

Getting to know Auntie Lily during a big family lunch with Kung Tai at the Casino. Katy loved playing with the keno pencils and cards but Security closed her down as children were not allowed in the gaming area.

Corporate Katy

While in Darwin, Uncle Bert had to work, so Katy, ever the team player, helped him out!

Katy's thinking "hmm, buy? sell? lemme chew on it"

Beach Baby II

Newsflash - teething teething teething

OK, so Katy's sleep went awry in Singapore and we thought it was just the travelling and sleeping in the same room as us. It took only a couple of days to get her back on track when we got back. About three days after we got back, we found a molar - her first! It is her bottom right side molar. A few days later, we found another molar next to that AND a molar out on her top right side! A few days after that, another molar on the top left side. So currently, Katy is cutting 4 molars that are partially but not completely out and she has a big lump on her bottom left side for her 5th molar coming through! She has been a trooper throughout it all though. Just a bit off for her naps.

Katy Rose - Little Girl On the Move in Cullen Bay

Kung Kung and Poh Poh bought Katy her very first Toddler Carseat!

She loved it. Katy was never a big fan of the lying down facing backwards infant carseat...but she really got that this was her special seat and it meant going somewhere fun with everyone in the car playing with her and she practically jumped into the seat and tried to do the buckles up herself most of the times we got in the car.

After a little while though, our little jitterbug would get pretty antsy and want to get out of the seat...I think we might need to plan for lots of "stretch your legs" stops when we go to Minnesota at Christmas. We will also be trying to train Katy to watch TV...and hope this will help entertain her during the long plane trip to MN.

Of course, while shopping for the carseat, Kung Kung and Poh Poh couldn't help themselves and got Katy her first Jeep Tricycle! She loved this too, especially doing wheelies, and Kung Kung loved pushing her around in it.

Kung Kung and Poh Poh live in Cullen Bay, so we took Katy to see how the lock works. She was more interested in climbing the fence.

At home veging in front of the TV with the remote and a snack (SAO biscuit!)!

Katy took to the piano like a duck to water! Once we showed her how it worked, she wanted to do it herself without anyone sitting with her. She loved banging away on it!

Meeting Kung Tai

Our first day in Darwin, we went to visit Katy's Kung Tai at his Home. It was great to see him again. His eyes are just as sparkly as ever and his mind is just as sharp. It was a little sad to see him so inactive when he was such a champion walker - he used to walk miles twice a day and meet up with his friends every day for lunch.

Seeing Kung Kung with Katy made the whole trip worth it. He just had the biggest smile on his face all the time and was very affectionate with her and she with him. It was as though Katy knew this was her great-grandfather! The photos don't really show it, but Katy was laughing and giggling, giving Kung Tai lots of high 5's and flying kisses.

Katy loved to feed Kung Tai her alphabet cookies.

Of course, Kung Tai really became Katy's best friend when he let her play with his remote control...so many new buttons to push!

Beach Baby

The highlight of the trip (apart from seeing family and friends) was the beach across the road. It was so peaceful and refreshing to hang out on the beach with Katy playing in the clean sand and the clean water. She loved it!

Getting there is half the fun...

...with a One Year Old! On 31 August, we took Katy and Uncle Bert on a trip to meet Katy's Great Grandfather in Darwin. Apologies for the lack of blogging - I thought we would be able to blog while away, but it just didn't happen! Then I got overwhelmed with too many photos on our return. Anyways...here is our trip, coming up slow and steady.

Katy loved the whole experience. Everything was so new and interesting. Katy enjoyed the kiwi sunrise mocktail while the Flight Attendant demonstrated safety procedures...

...all Katy's rules were relaxed for the trip, hence the juice treat...she developed a real taste for kiwifruit while we were in Darwin and Singapore.

Katy thought Singapore Airport was a paradise of vast expanses of carpet for her running pleasure.

She is growing up so fast but sometimes she still looks really tiny in a grown up world.
