Typhoon Party

Yesterday during the buildup to a Typhoon 9, Callum and his Mummy came over to play. The kids jumped in the pool, which was a great playpen in the middle of the dining room! Callum loved the jumping castle. Katy loved Callum - she was very enthusiastic about having a guest and wanted to hug and kiss him. She wasn't so enthusiastic about sharing her toys though! All in all, they had a lot of fun and ran around a lot, getting totally pooped out.

Playtime with Jonah

Jonah came over for a play on Thursday. It's been a while since we saw him as he was in Malaysia recently.

Katy LOVES Jonah. She grins and runs right up to him and tries to give him hugs and kisses.

The two friends started with Katy's new (old) Lego Quattro set and a couple of SAO biscuits.

Then they rolled around on the cushions, laughing.

They had fun singing Row Row Row Your Boat on the crocodile. This is the first time Katy has played on the croc with another child. Jonah is a lot heavier so we had to help them rock.

Katy the daredevil likes to go no hands!

Katy loves drink cups and insists on drinking out of everyone else's. She stole Jonah's, so Jonah stole hers, and they swapped their water cups for a bit!

ps yes I know, Katy only has one sock on...she loves getting into her sock drawer and insists that we put the socks on her. These Tinkerbell ones are her favourites. She often is happy with just one on though.

Orange Girl

Dadda Silly!

Katy sometimes prefers not to put her clothes on. So Dadda showed her how it's done!

And the Oscar goes to...

...what a ham Katy is!

Recently, she has taken to stomping around with her hands behind her back when she is expressing her anger or displeasure! We can't help but laugh!

Thanks a million Daddy

We LOVE where we live, and we love it more and more the older Katy gets. Katy loves running around outside our block, and she LOVES swinging at the playground next door. Thanks again Daddy for working so hard to allow us to enjoy our home so much.

Maracas Baby

Our friend Bee visited last week with her daughter Sage, who is three months older than Katy. Unfortunately for us, Sage's family moved to Seattle shortly after Katy was born, so they have only met once when Katy was only three months old. We really wanted Katy and Sage to meet again but it was not to be. Katy came down with her mysterious post-MMR 24 hour cold and Sage had jetlag so slept through the whole visit anyways. Sage has always been a great "jie jie" ("big sister") to Katy though as the older child - we have inherited a lot of great things from Sage. It's humbling to realise what a great "greening" example Katy is setting - she has re-used many things. Here, she is loving playing with a pair of maracas that Sage no longer wants.

Katy really LOVES them and really gets into a big Latino swing with them.

Just like Daddy

We've been trying but not very hard to potty train. Katy knows all about it but just is not interested in actually doing it.

Katy The Brave

Last Thursday, Katy tripped while running outside and grazed her knee and forehead pretty badly. She was pretty upset and I initially freaked out and started running inside with her yelling for Mila to help, but then realised that it wasn't so bad and I didn't want to be giving the wrong messages to Katy, so we did an about-face, had a cuddle, and then Katy got right back down on that pavement again and kept of running (a bit more cautiously) up to the swings. I was so proud of her. She's a tough cookie.

The reason Daddy had Friday off was because Katy was due for her MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) shot last Friday. Mummy was a bit nervous as Katy used to get so upset with needles and even visiting the Doctor for a checkup, she would get really upset. MMR is the controversial vaccination at the moment as there have been allegations that it is linked with autism. In any case, it is the first live vaccine administered to the babies, and can cause fever and rashes. So Mummy was glad of Daddy's support.

Well, Katy was a trooper again. She didn't cry at all. She played with the Doctor and the Nurse. She just looked a little surprised when the jab went in. Dr Siu asked Daddy to come in next time as his hug was obviously a magic hug that soothed Katy completely! Here's Katy's MMR war-wound...

Katy was great - happy as anything the rest of the day (probably because Daddy was home to play with her). She did start sneezing in the afternoon and got a stuffy nose overnight and a slight temperature of 100-101 degrees fahrenheit on Saturday, but that cleared up by Sunday. Probably an unrelated cold as symptoms were not supposed to hit until 5 days later. On Tuesday (the 5th day), Katy did get a slightly raised temperature of 99.7, but seems to be back to normal now.

Our First Family Meal

Last Friday Daddy had a day off and we enjoyed our first ever family lunch sitting around the big table with Katy, Daddy, Mummy and Tia Mila. We really really enjoyed that. And Katy loved it too!

Katy is really loving to eat whatever we are eating. For example, she has always spat out chicken until Daddy had roast chicken yesterday and she gobbled up tonnes of it without spitting anything out! Of course, as total food lovers, we are so so thrilled that Katy is enjoying trying lots of new tastes. Recently, she has tried olives, which she loved, oranges, which she loved, persimmons, which she didn't like, frozen yoghurt, which she initially didn't like but now loves, spinach and ricotta filo pastry, which she loves, and mustard glazed pork chops, which she loved.

Katy Carrot Clown

Katy loves that carrot juice every morning. Tia Mila makes her one all her own but she still prefers to share Daddy's glass.

Cuddles with Tia Mila

Katy is a very cuddly baby...

Uncle Howie

Uncle Howie and his new fiancee, Karen, came to visit us last week as part of their big Olympic China Tour! Katy loved having visitors and especially seemed to love playing with Uncle Howard every morning.

Pure Play

Last Wednesday, Olivia, Jonathan and Pia came over to play. It's been a while since they have all been together and it was amazing to see them all running and jumping and playing when it just seems like yesterday that they only just lay around gurgling!

The 4 amigos paddled in the pool. Well, Olivia had a great time. Katy had a bit of a hard time with all these little ones playing with her toys and her pool, so she was a little put out at first.

When everyone first arrived, Katy kept glaring at whoever was playing with her toys and running over to take it from the child. As she was told this was not acceptable behaviour and she had to share (because it would be more fun), she decided that the best strategy was therefore to take the toy from the child and give it to an adult...!!!

And Auntie Debbie is worried Olivia might be a little manipulative!? We won't even get into the performance Katy gave of running up to Auntie Debbie for a big hug, which really surprised us as she has not seen Auntie Debbie much and had never been that affectionate before, but then we understood it all when Katy then demanded to play with Auntie Debbie's mobile phone.

Katy couldn't resist the fun in the pool for too long though and joined Olivia for a splashfest.

While Jonathan chilled out wrapped up like a beef burrito and cuddled by his Auntie Joy.

After the pool, it was on to the bouncy castle, which Pia really enjoyed...

Katy and Olivia got wild with the static electricity!

There was a slight pause of quiet while the little monkeys had a little snack break.

This made us Mummies laugh the most - Katy loved feeding everyone! It was the cutest thing you ever saw!
Katy's been feeding the babies a lot lately. And it's funny because the babies seem to like being fed! They obligingly open up wide.

Auntie Debbie then broke out the bubbles, which absolutely delighted the babies! Katy LOVES bubbles! She tries to pick them up and she looks angelic with them all caught up in her hair!

Katy and I are really fortunate to have such a fun and supportive group of friends. We really enjoy their company!
