MacPhail is opening a new satellite centre in Chanhassen, which is great as it is really close to us. Unfortunately, they don't have piano lessons yet, and of course, we love our piano teacher Annette Lee, so our commute will probably stay the same for a while, but the new facility provides lots of new musical opportunities, including performance. Katy played in the opening recital. She played three pieces and seems to be a natural performer as she nailed them all! It was great to hear her achieve all of the practice goals she had been working on all week. It was also great for Katy to see and hear other kids performing. There are some really talented kids in the Suzuki programs!
Before and after the performance, we had the opportunity to explore some other possibilities for a second instrument. Katy is begging for violin lessons......but Mama is a little nervous about taking on another Suzuki instrument with all the hours of parental involvement and practicing that would entail.
So we looked into percussion...which Katy loved.
