First ski lesson of the season

On the third day of 2014, we took Ellie and Katy for their first ski lesson of the season.  Katy was a little miffed to be separated from Ellie for the class, but Katy had to learn to traverse and start doing parallel turns (called "french fries" in kid ski speak, as opposed to "pizza wedges", which are snowploughs).

We liked how experienced the teachers were.  Katy's instructor was a grandma and Ellie's was an ex competitive skiier Mom of two boys - of course Scotty already knew her, coincidentally, as they had gone to the same school!
The staff arranged for the girls to be re-united for lunch.

We thought the girls would be exhausted and cold by the end of the day, but they were clamouring for more and we ended up closing the mountain down!  Our family sure loves to ski!  It's such a great family activity.
