Katy's teacher, Yan Laoshi, put together a wonderful Chinese New Year party for their class. We parents just provided some snacks and turned up to enjoy the activities with the kids.
Hayley Hoppe, Paisley's Mummy, started off the festivities with a Zen story.
Most of the kids got dressed up and looked just darling with their bright Chinese New Year clothes. They made lucky hongbao, colourful hanging fish, paper plate hand drumming thingies and their very own jiaozi.
Zhou Laoshi is the paraprofessional who helps out with the kids' Chinese characters every day. I've enjoyed getting to know her as part of the Chinese New Year committee for the District celebrations. The kids loved rolling and making their jiaozi! They were not allowed to eat the jiaozi they made, but they all gobbled down lots of Costco jiaozi the teacher had brought in.
Mama and Dada got dressed up too of course. Elsa was a bit squashed by us I think...
As usual, the parents brought in tonnes of snacks and decorations, which the kids loved of course. They vacuumed up the mandarins especially, and enjoyed the white rabbit candy we brought in and the fortune cookies Benjamin's Mommy brought.
Julie came in to help too and really enjoyed spending time with the kids.
