By our last day at the resort, we had a nice little routine. Bert's family would be up bright and early, and then Katy would get up, and after finally getting our attention, we would go down for breakfast while Dada slept in.
On our last day, Katy and Dada finally got to explore some of the resort while Mama was busy taking a nap. There was a beautiful library area upstairs that we didn't get much of a chance to visit.
Scott Mayback is the resort's own Marine Biologist. He's from New York originally, but Dada didn't hold it against him, and the two of them became very good friends. Scott has been in Malaysia for four years now and is working with the resort to rehabilitate the house reef and build a turtle sanctuary on the next beach. On our last day, Rick and I went out snorkelling with just Scott. No other people, no kids to distract us. We saw the most fish ever and we had such a lovely, relaxing time! It was magical. Really almost as good as the Maldives - the only thing is that the Maldives also has the rays and the baby sharks.
On our last day, we also finally got a chance to try out the kayaks.
Even though it was a busy busy busy time with the three kids, we really had a wonderful holiday together and enjoyed all the activities the resort had to offer.
Most important of all, it was precious family time, and a fantastic send off for Minnesota. We will really miss Bert and Pinky, Gabriel and Raphaella. :(
