Kuching Food

The main reason for our whole trip was to see Kung Kung - our last visit was a year ago, so the Lai Krauels wanted to see him before we move to the US for an extended period, and the HK Lai's wanted to introduce Raphaella to him as well as re-acquaint Gabriel now he is older.  But of course, although we only had two full days in Kuching, we managed to squeeze in almost all of our favourite Kuching food...lui cha both mornings at our favourite lui cha place in Batu Kawa.
Some new exotic fruits Uncle Michael brought from his organic orchard.
Baku (fern tops) cooked in belacan.
And Katy gorged on delicious Bowen mangoes someone is growing in Kuching after bringing the seeds in from Australia.
The durian season is starting, so we managed to find some Kuching durians by the roadside.
Uncle Bert showed Katy the right technique for choosing the best mangoes.
And our last night, we had a feast by ourselves at a little restaurant near our hotel, enjoying crab, oyster omelette and baku cooked two ways, as well as durian outside.
