Chez Dada

Dada outdid himself planning and executing a superb meal for Yves and Mo Sauboua and Kent Wong from Amuse Bouche.  It was a farewell for the trois amis who shared such an amazing trip to Burgundy together a year ago.

As each guest arrived, the wine list became more and more impressive - and daunting!  8 bottles for 5 adults...
We started with a Dom Perignon from the Krauel cellars.  1998 vintage that Uncle Bert had bought for our wedding in 2006.  Delicious.
Kent just celebrated a birthday and he brought a 1969 bottle as the three of us are 1969 babies.  It was the only bottle we didn't drink that day, as Kent insisted that we save it to drink another time.

Dada prepared an amazing smoked salmon cream cheese roll as the first course.
He chose the salmon to complement chablis.  Yes, in our house, we choose the food to go with the wine...
Unfortunately, the 1996 Chassagne was over-oxidized.
My favourite course was the oeufs meurette a la Rick, meaning the bread was cut in the shape of the Millenium Falcon...long story - Star Wars cookie cutter set for Christmas...
Katy of course enjoyed the wine...and even more enjoys the rituals and body of knowledge associated with wine...She loves to play guess the grape with Dada.
The main course was a whole prime rib (from Minnesota) served with jerusalem artichokes and our Yotam Ottolenghi salad.
Kent also brought a superb 36 month Comte and a lovely ripe Camembert.
We finished with Tia's famous chocolate orange cake and vanilla ice cream.
