Katy begged to come with us to celebrate the birthday of our very good friend Tiffany Mendenhall. The Mendenhalls are very special to us because Mama and Auntie Tiffany are close friends:
Dada and Uncle Scotty are close friends:
and Katy and Ellie are best friends.
We were very privileged to be included in their small gathering of friends for a swanky night out with all the stops at the private Kee Club.
Katy found some photos on my iPhone and was very excited. "Mama, did you take these photos to show me Auntie Tiffany's party?"
"Err, yes darling."
After looking at the photos for a while, Katy sighed deeply and said: "Wow, it looks beautiful. I wish I could have been there too."
It was a beautiful night with a theme of black and white and with splash of red. The table was beautifully set for 20 with gorgeous red roses and lillies.
The evening started with a beautiful champagne cocktail. Scotty really planned a delicious menu with lots of Tiffany's favourite dishes. And her favourite red - the award winning Kosta Browne from Oregon.
It was a wonderful excuse to get dressed up in high heels, pretty dresses, and make-up - something that is a rare treat for most of us these days with children the priority.
Tiff's close friend Gina did our nails with bright red shellac on Thursday, which helped get us in the mood for the party!
I have to say, I think Dada and Mama still scrub up all right in the end. Dada looked particularly dashing with his red pocket square tucked in his tuxedo. And Mama was thrilled to find a new dress that was super comfortable. The Doorman made my night as I entered the building by commenting how nice I looked, so I entered the party with a huge smile on my face.

Tiffany was a gorgeous Lady In Red amidst all the black and white.
It was really a lovely, elegant, relaxed evening with good friends!
Scotty made a lovely speech and presented me with a bottle of Kosta Browne chardonnay to thank me for all my help with the party. Just another measure of the Mendenhall generosity!
One of Scotty's big surprises for the night was the pianist he brought in who was somehow connected with Chaka Khan and has sang and recorded with a bunch of bigwigs, including Michael Jackson. He was really a great entertainer and a lovely person.

Tiffany's across the road neighbour and good friend Liza made the spectacular cake.

I organised a group present for Tiff from several couples - a charm necklace to match her bracelet, and a dragon charm to commemorate turning 40 in Hong Kong in the year of the dragon. We also got her a Chinese brocade handmade album, in which everyone wrote their best wishes. We'll turn it into a scrapbook once I get the photos sorted out.
