Katy has a busy Friday afternoon. After school, her friend Nadia's Auntie picks up Katy, Nadia and Elsa, and brings them back home to Nadia's place in Wong Chuk Hang Road for a play and lunch. Then they all go to tutoring at Mandarin Express in Causeway Bay, followed by art class at Shirley's Art House a few floors below.
Today was also the monthly birthday party at school, where the kids get to dress up in casual clothes (usually party clothes for our fancy five year olds) and celebrate the birthdays of the month. Parents usually bring cake and treats for the kids to share.
Me: Was it only Toby's birthday today at school?
Katy: No, there were five birthdays. A lot.
Me: What kind of birthday party do you want next year?
Katy: Justin Bieber!
Me: Justin Bieber!?? Why do you want a Justin Bieber party? You're not having a Justin Bieber party!
Katy: Yes yes I really want a Justin Bieber party!
Me: Why do you want a Justin Bieber party?
Katy: Me and Nadia and Elsa were having a singing contest today and I wanted Justin Bieber so Nadia tried to download it but it didn't work so we just sang Firework instead.
Are they five or fifteen? I mean, come on!
