The Christening of Raphaella Ariel Lai

...was beautiful!  It took place at 11am on Saturday 18th August at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Star Street, the church where Mama and Dada got married, Uncle Bert and Auntie Pinky got married and Gabriel Isaiah was Christened.
We were honoured to be asked to be Raphaella's Godparents.  We're also Gabriel's Godparents.  Raphaella wore the gold cross that Uncle Bert gave to Katy for her Christening.

Katy was most excited and pretty in pink, whirling around like a little dervish throughout the entire ceremony.
Raphaella is even trumping archangel Gabriel for the award of the world's easiest baby.  She sleeps through pretty much everything, and apart from a little start when the waters were poured on her head, she remained asleep throughout the ceremony.
Katy was most excited to be asked to do the important job of patting baby's head dry after her shower.
Then Raphaella woke up a little and looked around to see what was going on.
She gazed adoringly at her Godmother as I put her Christening gown on.
Katy then was thrilled to get the important job of holding Raphaella's Christening Candle.
For their second baby, Bert and Pinky decided just to have a small family Christening.  Pinky's Mother, sister Rachel and brother-in-law Roy were there, as was her brother Bennett.  Bert and Pinky's helper Fatima also attended.
Fr Cuff baptised Raphaella.  He is the long-time Parish Priest of OLMC, and a good friend of Rick's and all of us.  He's a Maryknoller from Chicago and speaks fluent Cantonese and Mandarin.  He married Rick and me, but was away ill with a bad back when Bert and Pinky got married and Gabriel was Christened.
Katy was just thrilled to have a private cuddle with Raphaella at the end.
Kung Kung and Poh Poh were very proud grandparents.
