After a bit of a grumpy plane ride and a false start when we tried to check into the wrong Marriott beach club, we all breathed a sigh of relief as we entered our accommodations. Dada and Katy were delighted by the towel elephant that greeted us on the dining table.
And Katy ran around like mad checking out the bedrooms and ensuites. At first, she thought she would lay claim to the master suite, which has a huge soaking tub. But when Dada gently insisted that the other bedroom would be hers, she immediately went to check it out, and was overjoyed to find that she would have two double beds and her own ensuite, and apparently the cherry on top, not one but two doors to her bathroom.
We asked for a quiet room and we love that we are right on the end of the resort with an end unit on the top floor (4th) overlooking a vast verdant jungle vista, and a kind of man-made moat in front marking the boundary of the resort property.
We love the convenience of having an apartment with separate sleeping and living quarters. It helps everyone have the space they need to do different things at different times.
The resort is in a quiet, remoter part of Phuket Island, quite near the airport, but with not much else around it. It's part of a massive complex of Marriott branded resorts ranging from the JW Marriott to Anantara Villas to Renaissance resort.
