Well, she finally got it! Her very own lemonade stand. We made a few suggestions and tried to help out a little, but mostly tried to DIScourage her from pursuing this quite yet. But Katy insisted and persisted and she prevailed!
Her first customers were secretly recruited by Tia down the road. A trio of Filipinas came to taste her pink raspberry lemonade, armed with $5 coins distributed by Tia. They did a great job of making a fuss of her.
You should have seen the grin on Katy's face as she collected her money and poured out the lemonade.
Poh Poh then came to buy the last glass up. Poh Poh is a great supporter of Katy's enterprises, seeing Katy as a budding entrepreneur just like her.
And Katy got a chance to give Poh Poh some change! Katy's grin grew from ear to ear as she revelled in her lemonade sales and raked in the cash. She was so chuffed and proud!
Just as Katy sold out, Dada pulled up in the golf cart that the Mendenhalls have kindly lent us for the month of August. So Dada was able to come in as Chairman and help Katy really lift her operation to the next level.
Katy carefully made another batch of pink lemonade. The customers as you can see were getting great value as she used the best ingredients - Evian water, manuka honey, frozen organic raspberries!
Then off they went. Dada helped Katy choose a better location to catch the post 10.15am Mass foot traffic.
And gave her some pointers on selling, including approaching your customers and describing your goods...here Uncle Warren is Katy's fourth customer in her new location.
And then Katy sold out again, finishing with a flurry of sales to Auntie Martine, who gave Katy a $5 tip, and a sale to "Mary" - well Amy and the Filipinas who look after Mary for the Legion of Mary. Katy was awfully glad that she got to sell lemonade to Mary!
