Dada and Katy were very excited to find "The Lost City". Dada was particularly excited to drive down the 4WD only track. He thought we had a 4WD ute and it was only the next day when we found out that the ute is actually only 2WD. Still, it was obviously meant to be as we bumped and jiggled our way down 10.5km of dirt road.
There are interesting rock formations all through Litchfield National Park, and we passed more and more of them as we neared The Lost City.
When we arrived, it was late afternoon, and we were the only visitors. Katy was thrilled. At first, she was obsessed with why the city was lost. It was something she asked us repeatedly. By the time we got to The Lost City, Katy was insisting that the lost city was in fact Lishui! She was super excited that we would be visiting Lishui and told us all sorts of stories about each of the buildings/rock formations we passed. She told us her husband was expecting us for tea.
The Lost City is in fact a concentration of eroded sandstone. We were thinking of Auntie Heather during our visit and we thought she might have really enjoyed this part of our visit. The rock formations were amazing, and great fun to explore.
I was also particularly impressed by the vegetation on the rocks.
Katy was very reluctant to leave the Lost City. She kept insisting that her husband was waiting for us to have our tea party!
We would have loved to have stayed longer, but the sun was setting fast. It was a beautiful time of day to be at The Lost City/Lishui.
