Dada was fascinated by a very large spider that had built her nest quite near the main path into the rainforest.
Australia has very poisonous spiders and snakes. And dangerous crocodiles. And deadly jellyfish. This Russian tourist must have been very sure this was not a poisonous spider...
It was huge as these comparison photos with Mama's hand show.
Of course, then Katy wanted to use her hand for comparison too..
The spider was not amused. We couldn't find her mate anywhere. Perhaps she had already eaten it?
We are trying to teach Katy to respect and love all of nature, including all insects and bugs and worms. We're trying to teach her the difference between being afraid of critters (not good) and being careful of critters (good). Fear is unnecessary and unhelpful. Care is necessary and helpful.
