A Voyage of Dance

Katy had her second ballet concert on Sunday 10th June.  It was a big long day for the kids, starting with dress rehearsals at 10.30am.  Tia did Katy's hair, which was moussed back for the first time ever, to get the little tiny hairs around her face slicked back.  Mama did Katy's make up, and off she and Tia went with Ellie and Tiffany on the 9.30am ferry.

Dada snuck backstage just before the show started at 2pm.  The girls were dressed and ready to go.  It was very loud and very excited back there apparently.  They'd had a ball the whole morning playing and watching the big girls dance.

Katy's Tuesday afternoon Pre-Primary Ballet class were Sailorettes performing to a medley of sailor songs.

"I'll see you a song, a good song of the sea..."

Yo Ho!  Yo Ho!  Yo Ho! Yo Ho!
What do you do with a drunken sailor?  what do you do with a drunken sailor?  what do you do with a drunken sailor, early in the morning?
Bring back, bring back, bring back my bonnie to me to me...
And a huge big sailor salute to finish!

Katy remembered the most important thing about any performance, which is to smile.  She grinned from ear to ear throughout the whole performance!

Enjoying the adulation!  Katy could hear Mama whooping in the audience!
At the end of the show, the girls were all led out for their bows.  The auditorium was pretty wild with clapping and whistling and stamping of feet.  We were all so excited for the girls.

By the end of the curtain call, Katy was jumping up and down and dancing to the music.
She spotted us in the audience and waved and waved as the curtain fell!
It wasn't as emotional for me this year as last, when both Debbie and I got quite teary seeing our girls perform for the first time on stage.  It just makes you realise how quickly they are growing up.  We sat with the proud parents of Katy's best friend Ellie, Tiffany and Scotty Mendenhall...

...and of course Uncle Bert was there to support Katy...(Gabriel lasted the whole two hours and danced and clapped the whole time!)

...and Debbie and John Hill were there with Sophie (parents of Katy's other best friend Olivia) (and Sophie also enjoyed the show, dancing and clapping along to the music), as was Maxine Shaw (Mummy of Lola and Imogen).
A very exhausted Tia led the stars out after the show.
What a beautiful performance and a beautiful afternoon.  The girls were a dream and so excited to have their families in the audience.
 Of course, flowers were everywhere!
