Mabuhay Manila

Katy has been excited to visit Tia's home in the Philippines for a very long time, and we were honoured to be invited to Genny's 7th birthday celebrations, which are a big deal in the Philippines.

Katy's a good traveller, and we do it often, so we have some traditions in our travel routine.  One important one is that Katy always cuddles with Dada on the airport bus.
When we were at the airport, we saw lots of signs promoting the Hakka blossom festival in Taiwan.  Katy knows she's Hakka and loves to say (chit kah ngin and ngai heow gong kuk boy).  We haven't been able to explore much of our Hakka heritage yet, so we'll have to check out the blossom festival some time.  Mama is keen to go to Taiwan for the weekend to practice Mandarin and show Katy a Mandarin speaking city.
Katy is a great little traveller.  The flight to Manila is only an hour and a half, so very doable for our fidgety child.
Katy now loves to fill in the arrival forms as well.  The immigration officers have been very accommodating in accepting her filled in cards so far!  As the current family form filler, Mama will be very happy when Katy's writing skills are good enough to take over this job for real.
