Darwin Day 1 - The Wharf

We love visiting Darwin, although like DB, transport in and out is a bit painful.  We arrived at 1.15am on Thursday morning from Singapore.  The flight from Singapore is only four and a half hours, but it's in Katy's prime sleeping time, and she found it hard going getting comfortable in her car seat and laid out on top of Mummy and Daddy.  This little Princess is a little spoilt and seems to require a business class seat in order to sleep!  Hopefully, she'll get a bit more hardy as she grows up.  I remember sleeping "like a baby" flying around as a child.

Once we all woke up around Noon or so, we took a drive with Kung Kung down to the Wharf.  Kung Kung and Poh Poh had three shops down there for almost ten years.  The first was Schnitzel Magic and Mama still loves her crocodile schnitzels with a downpour of lemon juice.  Schnitzel Magic has now moved across to a new location in the corner.
We're here in Darwin in the "Dry Season".  Not only that, but we are here in the best of the six or eight seasons recognised by the aboriginal peoples.  Every day is guaranteed blue skies, sunshine, no rain, low humidity, warm but not too hot, and cool nights.
Our first lunch in Darwin was meat pies.  Katy had a party pie for the first time.  Mama used to have two party pies with tomato sauce for lunch at school.  And they were a staple of children's birthday parties.  Katy loved her party pie!
Katy loves the new massage chair at Kung Kung's and Poh Poh's.  She's quickly claimed it as hers.
Dinner our first night was a feast of morton bay bugs, snapper and paw paw salad, all cooked Thai style by the restaurant downstairs, which Kung Kung and Poh Poh have now leased out.
