BirthDAY

On her actual 4th birthday, Katy woke up bright and early and waited impatiently for the rest of the household to catch up.

We skyped with Auntie Heather's family and Nana and Papa, and and spoke with Auntie Holly and Uncle Chad's family, opening presents gleefully along the way. It's always a bit of a rush to fit everyone and everything in, given the time difference, and different schedules. Auntie Heather has started a tradition of giving Katy candy necklaces, which she just adores. Unfortunately we get a bit of a sugar tantrum about 10 minutes afterwards, as the sweet stuff crashes into the adrenal glands of an already very excited and overtired preschooler!

Katy was delighted with her two red eggs (Chinese birthday tradition) and a cupcake, and the eggs were a great way to get her some protein and non-sugared substantive energy.Tia the Miracle Worker managed to make and frost a birthday cake for Katy, so she could blow out candles on her birthday. Our fridge is full of cakes and cupcakes after the many rehearsals for Katy's party, and the cakes made for Katy's real birthday.
And then finally we were off for the main event - a day in Disneyland with Mama and Papa, Katy's greatest wish come true!
Being us, we of course spent the first hour trying to get these special tickets, birthday badges and VIP badges, which it turned out we didn't really need. And then we rushed up to Pixie Hollow to wait for TinkerBell to arrive. It is Hong Kong Disneyland's 5th anniversary, so TinkerBell has come to visit to celebrate. (Plus they are promoting the third TinkerBell movie!!!)

There is a cute little Pixie Hollow area now in Fantasyland. Katy enjoyed sitting on the mushrooms and she attracted lots of admirers in her TinkerBell costume.

When TinkerBell finally arrived, Katy was so excited, she clammed up and was very shy. She was so overwhelmed. I also think that she was trying to figure out if this was the real TinkerBell or not.

TinkerBell was great, very gracious and bubbly, and asked lots of fairy questions, like "is this your arrival day?", "how many seasons are you?" etdc

Katy had no idea what she was talking about!

Because it was Katy's birthday, we got to talk to TinkerBell for a long time. And we were first in line so we didn't have to wait. It was a great experience.

Katy did perk up again somewhat at the end, when TinkerBell danced with her and got her to do some fairy poses.
They had a great fairy friends hug at the end.
