Chinese New Years Eve

Wednesday was a busy day. Mama shopped in the morning and joined Dad for lunch with Fr Grimm at Amuse Bouche, then had my New Year hairwash. Katy and Julie spent the day at Lotto "driving Auntie Pinky and Poh Poh" crazy (as reported by Uncle Bert). Uncle Bert came home and took Katy and Kung Kung out to fly a kite.

Then we all arrived back at Lotto for our Family Reunion Dinner at 4pm.

Katy LOVED the tang yuan, which are sweet little sticky rice dumplings filled with peanuts or red beans or black sesame. They are traditional and represent the family "sticking" together and having a sweet year, as well as everyone turning one year older.

Katy gave them the thumbs up.

After dinner, Kung Kung and Gabriel chilled out on the couch....
...while Dada dug deep for the staying power to play a few traditional Chinese gambling games.

Katy was very excited to play. She forgot that she already played once last year. Uncle Bert helped her to change her pocket money notes for coins to play the game.
And Poh Poh brought Gabriel over to join in his first Chinese New Year game. Then it was Game On.
Katy enjoyed shaking the dice, which she did very artistically.

But finally, it all caught up with us, and we decided we couldn't go the distance to Midnight.
Uncle Bert kindly drove us to the Ferry, which made for a more comfortable an easier ride. Katy fell asleep enroute to the 7.30pm Ferry.
