Uncle Bert was going to spend his 40th birthday in Paris with Auntie Pinky, but his travel plans were changed recently, so we surprised him with a birthday lunch at Amuse Bouche. Auntie Pinky did a really good job so Uncle Bert was really surprised!
It was a small lunch with just family and close friends in a lovely private room that made for a very relaxed, fun lunch. Peter Phillips, Bert's first ever boss when he was a student at Sydney U, was there. He, Bert and Rick have become quite good friends here in Hong Kong now.
We had a really yummy meal, topped with a really nice fruit cake.
And what is becoming the inevitable finisher - this time some perhaps 1970 cognac - at least it was very old very smooth cognac!
Katy was napping through the lunch, but came into Central after her nap, to celebrate Uncle Bert's birthday. She was soo happy to see Uncle Bert and Auntie Pinky as it has been a while.
Katy loves to hide and Uncle Bert is a great sport for playing along!
"Come on Uncle Bert - let's run!" screams Katy!
Of course, birthdays have to involve some kind of treat, so Katy insisted that we stop at Godiva (!) for an ice cream or two (Katy likes to taste everyone else's...but she is very generous in sharing hers too!)
On the ferry home, Katy tried out the open air seating, explaining to her neighbour something very important and profound I'm sure.
