Road Trip

Halfway through our long stay in Minnesota, we took a road trip to visit Auntie Heather in Carlton and see the sights in Duluth. It was Katy's second trip to Duluth, but the first, for Auntie Holly's wedding at Christmastime, was a little rushed so we didn't get a chance to see much of Duluth. Plus it was winter then.

Katy was very pleased to borrow Cousin Baby Noah's fancy crib for a few nights. Our little fussy sleeper was tested to her limits by our trip to Minnesota, with changes in bedrooms, naps in carseats, strollers and bike seats, and changing nap and sleeping times. But she pulled through admirably!
Our first stop in Duluth was the famous lift bridge. Katy watched it go up and down with casual nonchalance. I suppose it doesn't look any more impressive than the lego and wooden bridges that go up and down at home!
What she loved most was the fountain park. She could have played there for hours!!
After lunch, we took a drive to the "beach" in Duluth, which was a lot of fun and very impressive for those of us not used to seeing such large bodies of fresh water.
Back at Auntie Heather and Uncle Ryan's place (or Noah's House as Katy calls it), Dada took Mama and Katy for a row...
...note the storm clouds in the distance...
...and we had lots of fun getting soaked in a huge downpour. Poor Dada was rowing and rowing and rowing as fast as he could to get his girls home and dry! Luckily, it was a lovely warm weekend so we didn't get too cold and wet.
Auntie Heather launched one of Katy's favourite hobbies right now - making "joolwie". Katy just loved making a necklace with Auntie Heather and felt very grown up.

On the way home, we stopped in at a couple of giant fishing marts, where Katy played with the cute "chainsaw art" outside.
