F is for Fishing

Dada's passions: Golf, Fishing, Hunting...not much golf or hunting going on lately, but plenty of fishing at the lake! The panacea to all ills worked its magic and Dada has now fully recovered from Mono finally after a gruelling and frustrating 12 months. Dada was chuffed to be able to pass his passion on to his little princess, Katy, and very proud that she enjoyed it so much and was so enthusiastic. Katy is really a little Mini Me at this stage. She wants to be involved in everything and do everything that Mama and Dada do. We're enjoying this while we can!!!

Here Katy is practising her net skills...
...and taking photos of Dada's huge Northern.
Mama's favourite fish to eat are the crappies (pronounced "croppies" although as "crap" is a common exclamation in Minnesota, "crappie" is an appropriate name for these ubiquitous little fish) and sunnies.
Dada even taught Katy the fundamentals of fly fishing.

Dada is very proud that his princess caught 5 fish all by herself over the course of the Summer and even threw one back herself.

Most mornings, Katy would take Dada out to fish for an hour or so while Mama got ready for the day. According to Dada, Katy would sing little fishing songs, play with her lipsticks and dolls and generally potter around in the boat with Dada.
Dada was very excited to catch his biggest ever walleye one night. Mama was very excited to be woken up at 2am to take Dada's photo with his big catch.
Nana and Papa got Katy a gorgeous little real working Barbie fishing rod. Katy loved it.

Katy even tried to help Papa clean the fish!
On our last day at the lake, even Mama got into the spirit of the fishing and caught a crappie or two.
