Katy's Art

Katy has been liking her Discovery Mind Kingergarten Mandarin Playgroup classes more. We cancelled them in February because she used to bang at the door demanding to leave, but ended up extending the classes as she really settled much better into the classes after Christmas and she doesn't get much other exposure to Mandarin or learning how to behave in a classroom.

Katy remains singularly unimpressed with Circle Time however, presumably because it requires too much sitting still and listening. She really rebels against that. I'm quite worried about how she will do when she has to go unaccompanied starting in September...I'm hoping that the old truth will become evident that she will be beautifully behaved when Mummy is not there!!

One nice thing to see is that Katy is starting to get more into the crafts. I would say that the projects the kids complete are mostly still 70% at least the adult's work and not the child's. But at least Katy is happy to sit down and give it a go. Although any paint or glue on her hands causes a big overreaction and demands to go wash her hands! (Xi xi shou).

Here are some of "her" recent projects.

Katy's favourite activities at DMK? Chi binggan of course! (Snack time when she totally gobbles up all her biscuits like she doesn't get fed at home). Followed closely by the playroom (you xi shi) and washing her hands (xi xi shou). She has been fascinated by watching the big girls use the toilet and has demanded to be put on herself at school, although she thinks all you do is make the noise (sssshhhhh sssshhhhh) and then you're done! She's a little scared of the hand dryer still.

Overall, she is getting much better at playing with other kids her age too and she is really starting to learn to share and take turns.
