After Katy's first solo Easter egg hunt, we all went to Mass at 8am. Katy behaved pretty well despite the chocolate fuel she had for breakfast!
Afterwards, we got ready for Easter lunch. Katy had the Gimeno girls Maria, 6, and Aina, 4, and Uncle Yves and Auntie Mo's nephew Yat Tzai, 2 and a half, at her table. We had dyed Easter eggs with everyone's names on them and Katy used her new Disney princess egg cup that she had found in her Easter basket that morning.

When everyone arrived, they all sat down to their place settings. Katy had been kept outside so the table would be a surprise. Each child had a chocolate figurine. Small but still a lot of chocolate for a 2 year old. Well, Katy took advantage of the general confusion of everyone meeting and greeting to polish off three of the figurines as quickly as she could. She was on her fourth one when the Gimeno girls alerted us...
...here is the portion of the fourth figurine Katy got to before I got to her!

We had a very traditional Easter lunch: cider-baked ham and saffron roast lamb with twice baked potatoes, roast sweet potato, smashed mint peas, asparagus salad, and beet and goat cheese salad. It was a mammoth effort. Dada marinated the lamb and ham overnight.

The kids were not really interested in lunch. Only Katy polished off quite a few of the honey lemon chicken drumettes. The other kids were too excited playing with Katy's toys

and doing Easter crafts, which the girls especially loved. They made caterpillars and painted Easter eggs.

Katy loved the balloon animals Tito Javi made. You never know people's hidden talents sometimes!

And bubbles are always popular, as Aina shows.

Afterwards, we brought out Tia Mila's specialties - the ever popular chocolate orange cake and the first time ever Easter egg cake.

Jolly and Javi...

Tonton Yves and Maria played piggy in the middle

with Aina in the middle.

Callum and his mother Natacha joined us for afternoon tea.

Mo and Yves helped Yat Tzai negotiate the Easter egg cake.

Katy was pretty tired by the middle of the party - and we hadn't even got to the big outside hunt yet!

Luckily she revived. Uncle Bert and Mama "hid" about 20 real eggs and 7 plastic M&M eggs outside. The kids just loved it!

The bright coloured eggs looked great and made it easier for the kids to "find" them. Since then, Katy's entrenched the phrase "I found it" into her vocabulary!

Yat Tzai peeled and ate the first egg he found!

Uncle Bert was a willing ride to help Katy find eggs, especially the high up ones.

Aina zipped around everywhere finding eggs!

and then joined forces with Yat Tzai, Auntie Mo and Tonton Yves.

Afterwards, the kids traded in their coloured eggs for M&M figurines. Of course we had to confiscate these off Katy before she ate them all!
Happy Easter everyone! We had a wonderful time. It's a learning curve for Mama and Dada too! Dada had to check logistics of egg hunts with his Mother and Father several times on the telephone!! Next year, we want to incorporate more of the real Easter story into our traditions. We had to hurriedly amend our story from the Easter Bunny bringing the eggs to the Easter Bunny and Jesus. It helped that the kids all got a chocolate Easter egg at the end of Mass too!
