On the first Sunday of February (1st), Kung Kung, Poh Poh and Uncle Bert took Katy (and Mama) for a walk through Hong Kong Park. It was Katy's first time. She loved watching the fish and the turtles.

And she really loved goofing around with Uncle Bert as usual.

Katy has become a compulsive sign reader too. She watches Mama and Dada reading timetables posted on walls and when she sees signs, she prods them and pretends to read them too. Very impressive for the bilingual ones!

Katy loved seeing the huge waterfalls. She just loves playing with water, wherever and whenever and preferably everywhere and all the time! She is really looking forward to going swimming again.

Katy loved perching on Uncle Bert's shoulders and reaching up to the leaves and aerial roots.

The walk in Hong Kong Park at Chinese New Year is a bit of a tradition for Kung Kung and Poh Poh. They like to go see the Chinese New Year flower displays, which are spectacular, although Poh Poh says they are not as amazing as they were last year. We also went through the tropical greenhouse and the cactus garden. Katy was fascinated by the cushion cacti and wanted to sit on them. So Uncle Bert demonstrated how ouch-y that would be by getting Katy to pop her balloon on the spikes. Wow they were sharp - the balloon popped as soon as it touched the cactus. It gave everyone a big fright, especially the poor lady standing next to us!

We really loved the afternoon in the park. The only spoiler was that Dada had to be left behind at home as he is still recovering from glandular fever. Katy just loved the whole idea of having an adventure out with Mummy though. I loved it - it was the first time I have taken Katy over to Hong Kong Island by myself! I loved having her all to myself I must admit.
Katy and I met Poh Poh at City Super at IFC and then Katy walked (ran!) all the way from there up to Landmark, where we met Uncle Bert, and Uncle Bert carried her all the way up to Hong Kong Park. That's a long way up hill for little legs! She slept really well that night. The funniest thing ever was seeing Katy get to The Landmark and notice all the bags and shoes in the shop windows. She's never really been shopping before. Just groceries. Well, she totally loved that there were shoes and bags all around. Finally, she couldn't resist anymore, and ran into Paul Smith, picked up a bag on display, tucked it onto her shoulder, and ran right out again with the sales assistant in hot pursuit! It was the funniest thing I have seen! Poh Poh and I were laughing so hard, as were the sales assistants. Katy was most put out that we had to return the bag!
A few days later, I took Katy into IFC again and we went up to Lane Crawford as the restrooms there are more comfortable with a toddler in tow. Well, you should have seen Katy's wonder, delight and amazement when she saw all the mannequins dressed up in their clothes and shoes and bags! Oh oh Dada, when does Katy get her own credit card???
